The latest issue of The Alarm Clock is here!

In the series of articles on leaders in the Bible and leadership in church and society, the protagonist in this episode is Peter. We learn from him that leadership in the church is a great responsibility. Vocation and formation by the Holy Spirit are crucial. And that does not necessarily make a leader's path easier.

“No one responded when asked at our church who would like to be interviewed for The Alarm Clock. But I thought it would be fun,” says 14-year-old Seastian in the interview series Generations in the Church. He feels comfortable in church, but sometimes finds it hard to keep faith.

Editor-in-chief Rev J. L. de Jong writes of a brotherly conversation. “As we move into the Advent season, let us in the breadth of the churches cry out with expectation to our God. How good it is when brothers, who can hardly find each other anymore, still come together and reach out to each other. To then seek with the thought with Christ as King of the church what is most according to His will in the light of Scripture and confession.”

At the meeting of the classis in Groningen, discussions included the situation in the denomination, the filling of the second service and preaching provision in the many vacant congregations. “We had a brotherly meeting,” he said.”

Rev A.A.L. Aalderink responds to a letter sent in by a widow who wonders if she is allowed to be angry with God. Also in this issue of De Wekker focus on anniversaries, obituaries.
