On 2 October, Geert de Korte travelled to Israel with his wife Lianne and their four children, to work in the service of the Centre for Israel Studies. In that centre, the deputation participates Church and Israel. Geert and Lianne work there on behalf of the CGK.
On October 7 - their first Sabbath there - they had to go to the shelter time and again, and Israel was plunged into mourning and dismay. Nevertheless, the family wanted to stay in Jerusalem. You can read about it in the article ' From praise hut to air alert'. See also, on the CIS website, the recent Message from Jerusalem. We ask your prayers that the Lord will bless and protect them - and that they too may be a blessing.
Interview with Albert Groothedde
An interview with Geert's pastor Albert Groothedde appeared in De Wekker. He returned from Jerusalem with his family last summer. The interview can also be read online; see: Sad and concerned about the situation in Israel and the Netherlands.
There are also a couple of episodes of The Scouts with a detailed discussion of what happened on and after October 7: dated 13 October and dated 21 October.
