In view of the deadlock and high tensions within our church, the general synod during the inaugural meeting in June established the committee on the future of the church. This follows the advice of the Preparatory Convention Working Group.
The Synod must discuss the foundations of our church and the future of our denomination. It is the task of the Committee on the Future of the Church Order to prepare this carefully and find a good form for the discussion. The committee itself will not draw up a vision for the future of the church.
A day of reflection will be convened in October. The committee's report and the conclusions of the reflection day will be discussed during the first session week of the General Synod, in November.
The committee is formed by Rev F.W. van der Rhee (chairman), Rev R.G. den Hertog, T.A. Meijboom, P. Raven and Rev J.G. Schenau (rapporteur).
