Distress has many faces. Sometimes poignant and massive, when we think of the earthquake in Morocco or the floods in Libya, for example. But sometimes also almost invisible, for instance when it comes to hidden poverty or loneliness in our own environment. Every Christian and therefore every community of Christians is called to help its neighbour in need. That is why it is good for diaconates to reflect on the question: 'who is our neighbour?' This way they can make the gifts of the congregation subservient in alleviating need.

Active in its own neighbourhood

There are numerous examples of congregations being active in this way in their own neighbourhood or hometown. Deputaten diaconate would like to promote this and supports diaconates or foundations that start domestic diaconal projects. This can be done through advice and guidance and possibly also with financial support in the start-up phase.

Financial support is currently being provided to three domestic projects. You can read more about these projects via the link in this article:

Assen Blooms: Assen Blooms - Christian Reformed Churches: CGK

Supports

Would you like to help make financial support for these projects possible? You can do so by collecting for a project or by adopting a project as a municipality. On the website, you will find PR material for each project that you can use to inform your congregation about the project.

Would you like to know more about these projects or about starting a local project? Feel free to contact your diaconal counsellor René Hubregtse (0318-582368 or r.hubregtse@cgk.nl)
