In Peru, we are now supporting an eco-project for the second year. From project coordinator Ramon we received good news. Their team has been reinforced with a new volunteer! Chris Rampersad is a biologist from the UK. Based on his faith, he wants to help explore and renew this endangered part of creation.

Education in nature management

Ramon goes on to talk enthusiastically about environmental education in the villages concerned. They started this in 2023. Three groups of participants will be taught about the types of trees in the forest area and savannah. What are the threats and how can they take good care of the area?

Why a project in Peru?

The savannah-like forest area in northern Peru is rapidly depleting. The forests are turning into desert and losing their unique biodiversity. A Rocha Peru wants to reverse this process and is committed to restoring, conserving and protecting the rainforest and its ecosystem. Local people depend on the forests for food, water and income. A Rocha supports them in using the forests in a sustainable way so that they can continue to generate income.
