The September issue of Passing on Is about poverty. The Voice of the Good Shepherd congregation in Bunde-Meerssen fights poverty according to the 'first church principle'. In Acts 4, we read how the first Christian congregation was one of heart and soul, sharing possessions and caring for each other. There was no one who suffered want.
The congregation in Bunde-Meerssen has a diaconal desire to be more church like the early Christians were. There is a great example of this in Doorgeven. But what is also beautiful is that the team leading the congregation has elaborated this diaconal desire very concretely in an infographic. It is a practical handout that outlines in eight points how, as a small community, they help where they can.
We are happy to share this flyer to inspire deacons and diaconally engaged members to get started in their own congregations according to the 'first church principle'.
