Evacuation mother and child centre Father's house

Father's house (Otchiy Dim) helps young mothers take steps towards a stable family life. Our churches support this mother and baby centre. It also accommodates and supports street children and young people. The centre is located in Petrivske, west of Kiev.

In the previous newsletter, we informed you that 175 children and their companions were evacuated to Freiburg on the first day of the war. After that first convoy, 2 more groups arrived safely in Freiburg. Thanks to the help of a fellow organisation, all these refugees can be accommodated in refugee centres in Freiburg.

The group is mostly made up of women and children. They are all safe and they are grateful for that. At the same time, they are sad because they are separated from their husbands and in great uncertainty about their subsequent family and country.

Miraculously spared

On 29 March, word came from stragglers that 'our' village of Petrivske had been hit by rocket attacks. The Father's House centre was miraculously spared. Thanks be to the Lord!

There are more extraordinary miracles to report. Many Russian missiles are intercepted by anti-aircraft defences, miss their target or do not go off at all. This is special protection for which we are grateful to the Lord.

It is also noteworthy that communication via the internet and social media is just still possible. For the many families coping with this war separately, this is a special blessing.

Reception at Mercy House

In the town of Vatutine, we support the Mother and baby centre at Mercy House. Here, fortunately, there is no fighting. There are no strategic targets to capture in Vatutine.

The residents decided to stay and help others by providing safe shelter. Families from Mariupol and Kharkov managed to reach the safe haven of Mercy House. With a large paper reading 'children' on the windscreen, they endured the dangerous journey.
