On 18 February 2025, the Christian Reformed church in Enschede East 125 years. Since 1900, the LORD has provided for his church in this city: the Word has been proclaimed, people have been baptised, people have made confessions and there has been faith. For this we are grateful. And it also amazes us: how special that we have experienced the blessing of the LORD in all these years and that the church is still there! The congregation of the Renata Church would therefore like to celebrate this anniversary with each other in various ways over the coming year.
The commemorative year begins with a festive worship service on Sunday 23 February 2025 at Renata Church. In that service, which starts at 09.30, the former pastor Rev J.J. Lof hopes to preside. Rev Lof will preach on the same text with which the first church council members were confirmed in their ministry on 18 February 1900, namely 1 Corinthians 3 verse 10 and following:
According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation and another builds on it. Each one, however, should take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay another foundation than what has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Former church members and other interested parties are welcome. We hope for a full church and a service in which we look up to the LORD full of wonder and praise Him.
The jubilee year has the theme 'Wonderment'. Ideas for the content of further celebrations are still being worked out.
