The Rotterdam classis sadly took the decision at its meeting on 3 September to detach Rev C.J. Droger from the Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk Vlaardingen.
A careful process has attempted to resolve the difficulties that had arisen between Rev Droger and the church council. Unfortunately, the classis committee had to come to the conclusion that it was not possible to restore mutual trust between the church council and the pastor and that disengagement from Rev Droger was unavoidable.
Rev Droger remains a pastor within the Christian Reformed Churches.
Detachment is a measure provided for in the Church Order when it must be noted with sorrow that, for a variety of reasons, there is no longer mutual trust between the pastor and the church council and thus no longer fruitful and blessed cooperation. This does not benefit the preacher, the church council or the congregation and does damage to the Kingdom of God.
