In the run-up to our churches' General Synod 2024, the Calling Church asks you to intercede.
We are all aware that the differences among us have increased and are putting our denomination under strain. This was once again evident at the last convention held. It was also concluded from the high turnout that there is great commitment to our church association. From this, the calling church derives the boldness to call upon you to remember the coming General Synod in your intercessions.
Much prayer is needed for the delegates and the moderates to be elected. Prayer for wisdom from Above. Prayer for reverence and awe of the holy God. Prayer for faith and obedience to the King of the Church. Prayer for the guidance of the Holy Spirit and daily repentance.
We urge you to remember these things not only in intercessory prayer before a synod week, but also during the course of the synod when the committees are at work.
Needless to say, great responsibility rests on the coming synod. Let us then, as congregations, form a wall of prayer around this synod, for our God is a God of miracles Who is mighty to do more than abundantly, beyond all that we pray or think.
It is our deep desire and heartfelt prayer that the coming General Synod will be subservient to the honour of the Lord, for the edification and expansion of His Kingdom and preservation of our churches.
