For many congregations without a permanent preacher, it is a challenge to find a preacher or provide a reading service every week. Rev. Bram Hofland (Hasselt) therefore took with three other ministers the initiative to develop a website where video lectures and supplementary materials are available.

“As a pastor, I am asked by many churches each year to come and speak - often more than fits into my schedule. It hurts then to have to say ‘no’ so often,” Rev Hofland writes on Preekpunt. Video sermons can then be a solution. They are pre-recorded sermons that can easily be shown during the service. The sermon comes with suggestions for the liturgy, a prayer, discussion questions for after the service and material for children's work.

Sermon Points offers individual sermons and series around a theme. “What I'm most excited about myself are the congregational projects. These are video sermons with additional material: a set of creative workshops for after the service. This creates space besides the church service for meeting, deepening and just time for each other.”

The aim of Preekpunt is to contributing substantially to the quality of worship services. More than 40 complete sets are now available. In the near future, the range will be further expanded with new preachers, themes and materials.
