Today, 1 July, is the official date: two churches in Zaandam are moving forward together. Menorah (CGK) and the Zaankerk (NGK) will sign a cooperation agreement. This will be celebrated in a festive service on 6 July at 10:00 in the Zaankerk, Drielse Wetering 50 in Zaandam. The service will be led by Rev Mark Veurink. Together with Marten Wybe van der Veen, he will form the preaching duo of the joint congregation.

The name of the church will be Zaankerk, using the Menorah logo.

A whole process preceded the unification. Menorah used Pascal College for services until mid-2023. When the lease was terminated, the congregation had to look for new accommodation. It found that at the Zaan church.

Over time, there was a growing realisation that it was time to leave behind the past of being separated and move forward together. Many practical settlement issues were discussed and mutual trust grew. The churches are grateful for this outcome and look forward to the future.
