South Africa: the Reformed Church in South Africa

The full correspondence link with these churches has a long history, dating back to the post-World War II period when many Dutch people emigrated to South Africa.

Until recently, the Reformed Church in South Africa consisted of three national synods: the two black synods Sinode Middellande and Sinode Soutpansberg, and the white synod Sinode Potchefstroom. In 2009, Sinode Middellande and Sinode Potchefstroom merged into the General Sinode GKSA, together with also a small part of Sinode Soutpansberg.

Correspondence with that part of Sinode Soutpansberg that remained outside unification is maintained by deputies of foreign missions.

Together, the GKSA and Sinode Soutpansberg are estimated to have over 150,000 members. The GKSA's confessional scriptures are the Three Forms of Unity. The GKSA are members of the International Conference of the Reformed Churches.

Between the Teological School of the GKSA at Potchefstroom and the TUA A cooperation agreement has been concluded.
