In August, Rev Henk Polinder and Rev Willem van 't Spijker paid an extra working visit to Botswana. There, they had to have some difficult conversations with the leadership of the Naro Language Project. There was also an opportunity to send greetings.
Extra attention sometimes needed
As a rule, we visit the various projects supported by mission from the Netherlands once every two years. But sometimes an extra visit is necessary. Usually when things are not going so well. Then extra talks are needed. Or things need to be organised differently. Both working visitors held a series of talks with everyone involved in the Bible translation project.
It started on the way there, from Johannesburg to Ghanzi. Then first a visit was made to the Botswana Bible Society in Gaborone for a talk with the general secretary there. Several talks were also held in D'kar: with the church council of D'kar, which had asked mission over 30 years ago to take up the translation project, and with the staff and coordinator.
Hopefully the talks, and the proposed changes in the organisational structure, will help resolve the difficulties that were there. We would like to see the Bible translation project completed.
Greetings
Fortunately, besides all the tough conversations, there was also room for other encounters. We were able to meet Rev Sibeko's family's new home in East Hanahai and we attended the church service in Chobokoane, where Rev Henk Polinder conveyed greetings from the Netherlands.
