Just a few weeks ago, we shared a post about the Infortem Bible School in Mozambique. Now we are getting worrying news from Pastor Nahoma. The hurricane Freddy claimed many victims and caused tremendous havoc. Pastor Nahoma writes that he is unhurt, but daily life has become difficult.

With great difficulty, daily classes at Ebom Bible School manage to go ahead. Heavy rain has flooded the river and the roads are barely passable. Ebom is hardly accessible. 'On Monday, we managed to get through, but we almost didn't make it back.' The school building was damaged by the heavy rain. How extensive the damage is cannot be seen until the rain stops.

The houses of some of the staff have collapsed. The families have been accommodated in hastily rented houses. The homes of the other employees have been flooded but are still standing. 'The rain continues, we don't know how long those houses will hold.'

Homes of students, people from the church and other residents also collapsed. Of the house where Pastor Nahoma's daughter lives, the roof was severely damaged. Everything she had was lost: the food, her clothes, the computer she uses for school, her textbooks. Part of the town where she lives, Qualimane, has been destroyed and there are problems with drinking water and power supply. 'We are thankful to God that my daughter is unharmed. I wanted to go to her on Sunday to bring some food, but because of the flood risk, I was not allowed to pass.'

People are warned via radio that the hurricane is likely to return from the direction of Malawi. They are advised to seek safe haven. Some staff are temporarily staying with their families in the guesthouse of the mission house or in the classrooms of the Bible school.

People who have lost their homes are sheltered in schools and churches. 'In our church, we also shelter some people, but we don't know how to provide them with food.'

'Our lives are complicated at the moment and the situation is alarming,' writes Pastor Nahoma. 'We were worried about a hurricane, but now we are also facing floods.'

The photos he sent give an impression of the situation. Will you pray for the people in Mozambique and in particular for the Infortem Bible School team?
