The Bible Society is organising three webinars in September on the Advent project Destination Bethlehem, from the Bible Basics method. Leaders of children's services or Sunday schools who want to start preparing for Advent and Christmas in time will be helped on their way with the project in half an hour.
'Every year at Advent and Christmas, it's a challenge: how do you help children discover something new in stories that keep coming back?' says Anne-Mareike Schol-Wetter, head of Child and Bible at NBG. 'To inspire youth leaders in this regard, we are giving this webinar early in the church season.'
Webinar
The webinar will be held on 12, 16 and 18 September. It is aimed at children's workers looking for a project for Advent and Christmas. You will be introduced to Bible Basics and with the Destination Bethlehem project. There will also be tips on how to use the material and an interactive chat for questions and comments.
Advent project Destination Bethlehem
The Advent project focuses on Bethlehem and has five episodes. 'Bethlehem became world-famous because of Jesus' birth, but it played an important role in the Bible much earlier,' Schol-Wetter explains. 'In this town, Ruth, Naomi and Boaz showed what faithfulness meant, in a chaotic time. And centuries later, when the leaders of the people were untrustworthy, the prophet Micah promised that a good leader would come out of Bethlehem who would rule on behalf of God. In the five episodes, children discover something new each time about God's promise of peace and justice for Israel and the world.'
The five parts of the project can be downloaded from the Biblebasics website . The material includes a project song, information for parents and pastors, and a programme for a complete Christmas celebration.
