In the latest issue of *De Wekker*, volunteer Willie Aalderink is in the spotlight: she has been running *De Wekker*“s advertising department for 40 years. In an interview, she speaks alongside her husband Hans, who has been helping out since 2009. ”We’re available every day. Even during the holidays, so De Wekker comes with us,” the couple explain.
In *Woordwerk*, Rev. D. van der Wal explains God’s name, “Father of Glory”. “Glory is what becomes visible when God reveals something of His majesty. His glory penetrates our darkness like a ray of light.”
The meditation is by Rev. D.J. Steensma. He writes about the distinction between being male and female, being submissive to one another, and the fulfilment of this in Christ. Rev. J.L. de Jong expresses his hope for dual loyalty within our church community.
In *Pastoraal*, a practical question: If you feel you’re being asked to do too much, is it okay to say ‘no’? Surely you’re supposed to deny yourself? Rev. M. Bergsma answers the questioner.
The holiday period prompted Jeannet de Jong to ask readers about their peace of mind whilst on holiday. Alie de Boer-Bakker, a pioneer at Hart voor Bant, recently took action. She “stepped out of her comfort zone” after God answered a fellow villager’s prayer.
The Eastern Private Synod has announced that its most recent meeting took place in a positive atmosphere. The agenda included the report from the deputies pursuant to Article 49 of the Church Order and the election of delegates to the General Synod.
De Wekker also includes an obituary for Rev. C. Bos.
