Our children and young people have to find their way in a world that seems to become increasingly complicated. For our churches, there is a great task to assist them in this, and to help parents in raising and guiding their children.

The youth work organisations (CGJO and LCJ) are working to equip and supply municipalities with materials. The work is increasingly project-based. A good example of this is the parenting support project, from which the Faith in the Family parenting square emerged.

Ninety per cent of the remittance benefits this work. In close consultation with the youth work organisations, the deputation monitors their functioning and the spending of the funds. In addition, reflection takes place and contacts are maintained, for example with the student associations.

Youth Unions

As Christian Reformed Churches, we have two youth unions that support youth work in local congregations: the CGJO and the LCJ.

Project Vision for Youth

Together with the CGJO and LCJ, we as deputies have started a project that focuses on reaching and seeing ALL young people. We have named this project: Vision on Young People. We see it as our task to create a sense of urgency and awareness within congregations. A sense of urgency because faith and the church are losing their relevance for many young people, which is reflected in an increasing number of young people leaving the churches. We also need to work on raising awareness of what young people are doing and what they need.
