Earthquakes

Venezuela’s coastal region has been hit by two severe earthquakes. The quakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, have been severe and devastating. Thousands have been killed and more than 50,000 are missing; there are also many injured. There is extensive damage and a shortage of everything.

Drastic consequences

“There’s nothing left – no water, no electricity, no buildings, no supermarket, no hospital; there’s nothing,” says a survivor from the coastal town of La Guaira, with sadness in his voice. This tragedy is on an unprecedented scale and comes on top of all the misery and suffering that has afflicted the country in recent years.

Food and emergency aid

Partner organisations want to provide aid precisely where the need is greatest: where people have absolutely no food. They provide food, medicines, tents and clean drinking water. In this way, they bring hope where despair reigns. Will you help?
