HIV/AIDS is claiming many victims in South Africa. There are many children who have lost and of their parents to this disease. In KwaMhlanga, there is an after-school centre for these AIDS orphans and street children, Sun City. There, the children receive food and attention and are guided into adulthood. Church staff and volunteers also provide physical and spiritual care. Hilde explains why she is happy that her children aged 9 and 11 go to Sun City.
My children have changed tremendously since they started going to the centre. It is important for them. Before, they used to roam the streets after school, but now they have a place to go. They get a meal there, do their homework and play safely with the other children. They get good grades in school. And they know God, thanks to the Bible studies there. I don't know where I would have been without Sun City. We get a lot of help from the people at that centre.
Our children learn respect and discipline and also gain more self-esteem. I think that is very good. They are well looked after and they enjoy going to Sun City.
The centre means a lot to the community as most of the children go there for after-school care. It is a home for the vulnerable families and children love being there. The teachers are very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
I am grateful to God for the care of Sun City. God is great and with Him anything is possible! Sun City's help made a big difference to us.
