This year, we are launching three new projects. One of them is Support for refugee children and trauma care in Kurdistan. More than 300,000 Syrian refugees are living in this region of northern Iraq. Life there is precarious. Memories of the war and the resulting relocations have a profound impact – particularly on children.

Looking after children

This project helps refugee children to be children as much as possible. In safe, child-friendly spaces, around 1,000 children can learn and take part in activities. They also receive support to help them come to terms with traumatic events. To create as stable a life as possible, attention is also paid to the rest of the family. In this way, children are given hope for the future, even amidst uncertain circumstances.
