As churches, we are called to make God's kingdom visible in our environment. One of the valuable tasks of the deacons is to provide leadership in this area, so that the congregation can grow in serving, sharing, and doing. Participating in God's mission is a new training programme that helps the diaconate get off to a very practical start. CGK Diaconate and Kerkpunt have developed this programme especially for deacons who would like to lead the congregation in missionary diaconal church-going.

Practical plan of attention

The aim of the programme Participating in God's mission is that together you diaconal plan of care makes for three to five years. In it, you also lay down the agreements for implementation. At the end of the programme, you will have a practical plan that helps to give direction to the diaconal work, train new deacons and get the congregation on board.

Programme in phases

Participating in God's mission consists of four different phases lasting several months: exploring and discovering, listening and seeing, choosing and planning, going and growing. The deacons follow the programme together, at their own pace. For an effective plan of attention, it is good if the minister, church council and congregation are also involved.

The programme assumes that participants have a basic knowledge of diaconate and the office of deacon.

Based on the mmissionary disc of five

The starting point of this programme is God's mission. The five characteristics of global mission make it clear how churches can become involved in God's plan for this world.
