Two new pioneer places are starting in South Limburg, in Heerlen and in Sittard. The missionary congregation of Bunde-Meersen has appealed to Rev Wilke den Hertog and evangelist Cees van Breugel and both have accepted the appeal.

More and more people in South Limburg are coming into contact with the gospel and longing for a life with Jesus Christ. The Voice of the Good Shepherd is growing. In this region, where few people are familiar with the Bible, there appears to be a hunger for the gospel. It is good news that a pioneer has been found for both pioneer sites.

Heerlen

Rev Wilke den Hertog starts in Heerlen. Before that, he returns from Thailand, where he is currently involved as a missionary teaching pastors and young people who want to engage in church planting. More about the work he is doing in Thailand can be found in an earlier post on the relocation within Thailand of the family.

Sittard

Evangelist Cees van Breugel will start working in Sittard. He is an evangelist attached to Heart for West in Rotterdam. He can use that experience in building a community in Sittard. Letting go of the work in Rotterdam is not natural, but "when God calls, we gladly follow him".

Missionary team

The appointment for both is 0.6 FTE, with the prospect of full-time. The intention is for both evangelists to work with a missionary team, which needs to be built up. And for that, it is important to have Christians living here who want to join. Those interested in moving to South Limburg and join the missionary team, please contact The Voice of the Good Shepherd in Bunde-Meerssen.

Pioneers in the South

Funding is provided by the Pioneers in the South Foundation (), involving the Christian congregation Voice of the Good Shepherd. Several Christian organisations have expressed their willingness to support the project. For the future, the foundation is also thinking of other pioneer sites in the area, possibly in other places in South Limburg.
