Deputies on foreign missions have appointed Rev Arjan Witzier to succeed the current mission consultant, Rev Willem van 't Spijker, in due course. Rev Van 't Spijker will reach retirement age D.V. in February 2025. From 1 January 2025, Rev. Witzier will be fully employed by Mission Deputies. We asked Rev Witzier what attracts him to the new position and what challenges he sees ahead.
Rev Witzier: 'A privileged person, that's how I feel with the appointment as mission consultant from 1 January 2025! The good news about Jesus Christ needs to go out into the world. People need to come to know Him as the Saviour. That mission is there near and far. As a pastor, I get to work to make it known close by. As a missionary counsellor, I get to commit to making it happen further away. Just as I cannot and do not have to do that close by on my own, but together with other believers, so it is with missionary work: together we dedicate ourselves to making people in all sorts of places in the world come to know the Lord Jesus.
A beautiful and challenging task I see before me. Getting and keeping you and yours involved in missionary work here in the Netherlands. And to direct and guide existing and new missionary work abroad.
All work in the church is prayer work. Will you pray and pray with us also for this work?
