On Saturday 21 March, the Amersfoort classis held its annual mission day in the church building of the CGK of Bunschoten. Over 250 people from all kinds of congregations of the classis gathered around the theme ‘Mission in the Middle East’ - a topical theme in these times. Participants look back.

Speakers

“On behalf of the Centre for Israel Studies, ‘our very own’ Israel consultant Drs G.T.S. de Korte spoke. It was unclear for a long time whether he would be able to come because of the war in the Middle East. But it worked out anyway. He took us through the current situation in Israel, his work there and what it means for his family to live and work in Israel.

On behalf of Cama Mission, Br Van Schoonhoven spoke. He spoke about his experiences in missionary work in Syria. Mr A.M. Westrate spoke on behalf of Stichting Ismaël about missionary work in Egypt and the Palestinian territories. These were three impressive lectures. Against oppression, evangelists go out to bring the gospel to men and women. The love of Christ and the preservation of their neighbour compels them.”

Children's programme

“There was also an interactive children's programme (also provided by the Ishmael Foundation), the old and familiar missionary market, fun activities (including a bouncy castle) and a real restaurant.”

Looking back gratefully

“We can look back on a beautiful and well-attended day. We thank the Lord for the efforts of so many local mission committees, volunteers and the beautiful meetings.”
