A report by Rev A.A.L. Aalderink
This last day of the first session week is the most exciting day of this week and perhaps of the entire synod period. The whole day has been set aside to discuss and decide on the future of our denomination.
Many delegates reacted to the report written by the committee on the future of the church. Specifically, it is about the interim model, about which much has already been spoken and written. It takes a lot of time, but everyone gets speaking time. An adjournment and lunch are followed by a detailed and careful response from the committee.
The committee regrets to note the lack of support for the interim model. The commission is handed back to the moderation committee.
Thought must now be given to what is needed for our church union, which is broken and fractured. This week of meetings ended with many emotions.
