Joseline from Nicaragua was given the opportunity through the Christian organisation ICC to follow a course that will enable her to earn a living. From diaconate CGK we support this project. Joseline shares her story and thanks us for the support.

Hello sisters and brothers of diaconate CGK!

My name is Joseline. I live in the Solidaridad community with my grandmother. I am 18 years old and mother of a 2-year-old girl named Stacy.

Household and parenting

Before starting the course, I spent my time at home caring for my daughter and helping my grandmother with household chores. I don't live with my daughter's father and raising her is a big challenge. I found life really tough at times.

Jewellery making course

Then I heard about a jewellery-making course run by Sister Olga, a worker at the Manantial de Vida church. She and the teacher came to my house and told me that there would be a jewellery-making course at the church. She also spoke to my grandmother and explained that we would meet on Sunday afternoon to learn more about the course.

I enjoyed attending the classes because the brothers from the ICC organisation gave us all the materials to learn how to make jewellery. They gave us lectures that motivated us to make our own necklaces and they always dealt with us patiently.

Furthermore, they showed us that we have a special value to God. This touched me immensely, time after time.

A new opportunity

At home, I now spend time during the week making jewellery with the materials we were given at the end of the course. In the afternoon, I sell them in Tipitapa park.

Thanks to God, I now earn enough to buy things for my daughter that I could not give her before because I am a single mother. Although I did not finish high school, I am taking advantage of the opportunity I got through the course. Therefore, I would like to thank you for your support.
