Mission: the tall order
The task of deputies on evangelisation is to help churches with equipping, advising and financial support, so that they can fulfil Christ's Great Commission to the best of their ability:
Go therefore, teach all the nations, baptising them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
(Mat 28:19)
Vision: prioritising missionalism
Deputates evangelisation desire that all churches of the church confederation live out of the deep conviction that God calls them to be missionary in their surroundings and that they prioritise this in their thinking and actions. The churches realise that the purpose of being a church is the proclamation of God's virtues:
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people whom God made His own; that you might proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.
(1Pet.2:9)
Strategy: learning and passing on
As an evangelisation team, we want to increasingly learn how missionary work can be done responsibly and fruitfully. We do this in missionary practice and through academic reflection. With what we learn, we want to improve our practices. We want to pass on our knowledge to the churches as tailor-made work and thus equip, encourage and form them into churches that know they are sent by God. In doing so, we want to enter into strategic alliances with related organisations. We also want to make more connections between established churches and mission churches, in order to increase knowledge and understanding of each other.
