Winter fair in Hengelo
The Hengelo Mission Committee organised a Winter Fair on 27 January 2024. They are happy to share how they went about it.
The Winter Fair was held in our own church building. Using a script, we completed our roadmap. A good division of tasks is important, as are intermediate checks.
To maximise attendance, we started publicity to the congregation well in advance: church magazine, Confirm on Sunday, the website, facebook and so on.
We put out an appeal to the community asking who could fill a stall or give a workshop. In the end, we had a well-stocked and nicely decorated hall with stalls selling various handicrafts, crochet and knitting, all kinds of woodwork, books, home-baked cakes, home-made chocolates and packets of flower seeds. Youth had made bird food packets. Of course, there was also a stand with information on the missionary work of our churches.
There was a flower arranging workshop with spring bulbs and peanut string making.

Last but not least, there was a stand with coffee, tea, chocolate milk, soft drinks and mulled wine. Delicious homemade pea soup was sold and the bratwurst sandwiches flew over the counter!
We look back on an enjoyable afternoon with a great turnout and certainly a nice yield for missionary work.
All in all, worth repeating. We already have plans for next year.
