CGK Opperdoes holds a tulip campaign every spring. Members can have tulips delivered to other church members and residents of Opperdoes. In this way, they can greet, thank, congratulate, show that they are thought of, wish someone well or send a cheer. Nice to receive, but also nice to give!

How does it work?

Each church member will receive five cards. On one side of the card will be the name and address of the recipient. And on the other side, a greeting, wish or kind word is written. The cards, each bearing three euros, are put in a box on the table in the hall of the church. After the necessary bunches of tulips have been bought and marked with a card, the youth club makes sure that all the tulips with corresponding cards are delivered.

Last year, 70 people handed in cards, ordered 450 bunches of tulips and delivered flowers to 144 addresses.

The proceeds this time were for fuel for Rev Gaobolelwe Ngakayaja's car. This pastor from D'kar (Botswana) has retired and therefore no longer receives a financial allowance. Fuel has become expensive. And due to the drought, cows that were meant as an old-age provision have died. As a result, he can no longer afford to refuel. But he is still so keen to drive to the farms in the area to bring the Gospel to the nomadic workers.
