Areas where we work (together)

Mission works with local churches in several countries. In Sulawesi in Indonesia, we have been doing this for a long time, since 1928. Since working there was very difficult in the 1940s and 1950s due to political circumstances, we started in Venda, South Africa, around 1960. Over a decade later, KwaNdebele was added, also in South Africa. This was followed by Botswana (1990), Mozambique (1995), Burundi (2010), Siberia (2010) and Thailand (2010). In 2013, missionary work in Europe came into focus. Over time, mission started supporting projects in Girona, Paris, northern Italy and Northern Ireland.

Collaborating instead of leading

Missionaries from the Netherlands used to lead the work. Nowadays, we work together with local churches and Christians. They do the actual work. From the Netherlands, we give advice and support, also financially.

Mission wants to (move towards a situation where we) act together and learn from each other. Reciprocity and equality are therefore constantly reflected upon, discussed and reflected upon. We take time together to look back on cooperation, learn from it and make development-oriented agreements with each other.
