Diaconate recently paid a working visit to our food security project in Mozambique.
When it comes to food, the people of Mozambique largely depend on what they can grow themselves on a piece of land. The Christian organisation CODESA helps families increase their knowledge of sustainable agriculture and also nutrition. And that seems to be working! Women and men who have received training from Codesa and apply that knowledge usually have a harvest four times larger than before. What is not needed for subsistence, they sell at the market.
Governor asks for prayer
CODESA reaches about one hundred and eighty large and small (church) communities. CODESA is highly valued by the local community in Zambezia province, the governor we visited told us. The governor asked to pray for them so that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit and receive wisdom on how to act.

Sufficient food
CODESA employs an agriculture expert and a nutrition expert. They work closely together so that the connection of agriculture and nutrition is optimal. What is not needed for home consumption can be sold in the market. One of the coordinators put it very aptly: 'Because of the Bible studies, we now have diverse and sufficient food in the market!'

Biblical teaching
We were welcomed by enthusiastic groups of people in the villages, sometimes as many as a thousand or more people. They enthusiastically told how teaching from the Bible worked for agricultural yields. The story of the five loaves and two fish encouraged them to expect much yield from God so that there was enough to eat. And each time the question was: pastor, share the Word of God with us.

Heartwarming. Our project works out a lot! Would you like to support our project in Mozambique?
