That's Limburgish for: Will you join us on a journey? In the missionary congregation Stem van de Goede Herder in Bunde/Meerssen, they are on a great journey! People from all sorts of backgrounds have found a place in this congregation over the years. Since then, the congregation has grown to about one hundred and sixty members and a strong desire has grown to be a blessing to more people. For there is much spiritual and material poverty in South Limburg.
Two pioneer spots
Believing that the Transmitter will provide the means necessary for the mission to which He calls, the congregation has two new pioneers Appointed: evangelist Cees van Breugel and pastor Wilke den Hertog. Cees and his wife Ariëtte are moving from Rotterdam to Sittard to work as evangelists. Wilke moved with his wife Marlies and their children from Thailand, where they served as missionaries. Both pioneers will have a missionary-diaconal role. Their ministry focuses on reaching people with Word and deed. On Sunday 30 November, Cees and Wilke will be confirmed in their service in South Limburg.
Support for diaconal work
It goes without saying that the small Municipality in Bunde/Meerssen cannot fund this work themselves. That is why the Pioneers in the South foundation was set up. This foundation does the fundraising. From this foundation, we received a request to support diaconal work in Heerlen and Sittard. With this support, a repair café is set up, walks are organised and lunches are offered at Christmas and Easter and after the Sunday church services.
We would like to offer this support. How beautiful it is that in this way the light of the gospel is also spread in South Limburg! We would like to invite deaconies to collect for this project. For the first three years, we have made a commitment of €13,750 per year.
