Sometimes God opens the way precisely when we can no longer see it. That is what Iryna Lynnik tells us. the Anchor in Ukraine.
Our rehabilitation centre has been helping people struggling with addiction for years. It is a place where lives are transformed and people find hope again. However, for more than fifteen years, we lived with one major concern: the building that had once been given to us was not legally ours.
A year ago, we began official negotiations to purchase the plot. It was a difficult and exhausting process. The owners asked for an unreasonably high price. Our partners from various organisations did everything they could to reach an agreement, but to no avail. The final answer was disappointing: no agreement could be reached.
Disappointment
I remember that moment very well. I sat there with the letter in my hands and understood: if these people are not willing to transfer something that was once given, the risk of losing the building in the future will only increase. I felt disappointed, but accepted that we could not change anything at that moment. I was already writing a thank-you letter for their efforts, to conclude the matter. But at that very moment, God sprang into action. When all doors on earth were closed, heaven went to work.
New hope
I received word that a Christian family felt in their hearts a desire to support us. They didn't know the details; they didn't know that negotiations had stopped, nor did they know that I was trying to come to terms with the idea that the purchase was impossible for the time being. They simply heard God – and responded by writing to us that they wanted to donate a certain amount to the Anchor Centre.
When I saw the amount, I froze. It was exactly the amount that could break the deadlock in the process. And that became the spark that set everything in motion again. After their move, our partners rejoined forces and the CGK diaconate joined in. What had seemed closed forever began to come together step by step.
God sees
We witnessed how God opened a way where there was no way. We witnessed how He uses people who listen to His voice. We witnessed how God, through the obedience of one family, set in motion a series of events that ultimately led to our building – our home of ministry – finally becoming officially ours.
It reminded me once again of something very important: God always has an answer. And sometimes it comes through those who simply heard Him and said, Yes, Lord. And I believe this story can encourage anyone who is facing closed doors. God sees. God knows. And God will open the way – exactly when it is His time.
