Romania: Biserica Evanghelică Română

The BER came into being in the 1920s because of objections to the Romanian state church with its unbiblical teachings, externalised religious practices and rites. The BER has no confessional scriptures but does maintain a Reformation-style statute. The BER has about 20,000 professing members. Together these make up 240 local congregations, spread across the country but with a concentration in and around Bucharest.
