In January, representatives from almost all our mission projects came to the Netherlands. They participated in the mission conference, addressed the synod and got to know the Netherlands and our churches. One of the attendees was Rev Jacob Mahlangu, representative of the Soutpansberg Synod of the Reformed Churches in South Africa. Earlier this month, he sent a letter that clearly shows how valuable these meetings are.
Warm regards,
It is with great pleasure that I write you this letter. I hope you will receive it well. Here it is summer and usually very hot.
The reason I am writing this letter is to share my experience about my visit to the beautiful Netherlands. It was a special experience for me because it was my first time travelling by plane and also my first time in a boat. During this trip, I learnt a lot. Especially the visits to the different churches enriched me. I gained insight into how they work, how those churches came to be, what challenges they face, and how the Lord is working in those churches.
I also learned how the synod functions. That was a valuable experience for me, especially to see how people deal with the various reports. There are many things that touched me during this visit. For example, I was impressed by the music festival, where I listened to all kinds of music. I also found the visit to the place where the Three Forms of Unity were created particularly impressive.
Everything I saw and learned there has inspired me to dedicate myself even more to the Kingdom of God. The passion of our brothers and sisters in the Netherlands for the mission that started in South Africa touched me deeply. It has encouraged me to continue working with the same dedication and mindset.
If I had the opportunity to visit the Netherlands again, I would be delighted to do so, sharing the fruits of my previous visit.
May the living Lord richly bless you.
During his visit, Rev Mahlangu sang to a number of attendees. You can listen to him here. You can read more about the mission week in Foreign guests visit the Netherlands
