mission, Jesus' commission

The Church and mission are one. Two thousand years ago our Lord Jesus Christ returned to heaven and gave his followers the commission to make disciples of all peoples of the earth, ‘baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey every­thing I have commanded you.’ That’s what mission is about: making disciples for Jesus. Because Jesus also said ‘and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’, we are still obeying that commission. Till He returns.

The mission committee supports mission work of local Chris­tians in eight areas in Africa and Asia with prayer, money and training. That’s how we try to obey Jesus’ commission to teach his disciples with the Gospel. All Christian Reformed Churches in The Nether­lands give support for the work in one of those areas.
